As the name might suggest, ducted air conditioners work mostly through a series of ducts to cool/heat your home. Ducted A/C has an internal fancoil unit installed in the roof space of the house. From this central location, a set of ducts is run out into as many rooms in the home as you require. Air then gets pumped through these ducts allowing you to heat or cool each room individually (called zoning). This is controlled by the thermostat/controller on the wall, enabling you to select the temperature and other settings. The simplicity of cooling a whole house from the one location is evident here, and if you’re building a new home or doing major renovations, then ducted air conditioning is a viable choice.
